You're listening to the creative teacher podcast, a show for busy teachers looking for ways to engage, inspire and make an impact in their teacher businesses. I'm Kiersten, a teacher business owner who is all about simple and actionable tips, strategies and resources that result in wins, big or small. If you're looking for that extra spark of creativity, you've come to the right place. Let's dive in together.

Giving your TPT store a fresh look can do wonders for your store and the revenue it brings in just think of your favorite people that you follow on social media, or anybody in the entertainment industry or even your favorite cereal brands. If you compare those brands from 10 to 20 years ago, you might just be surprised at how they looked. If you ever go into maybe your favorite people that you'd like to follow, do some scrolling and see how they've come so far in the last year or two. Brands are constantly updating their look in order to stay current and relevant. It's completely normal and important to change up your brand look in order to stay relevant in your TPT business as well. Today, we're going to be talking about four reasons why you should consider giving your TPT store a fresh look.

The first reason is that it's been a while and it just looks outdated. From the naked eye. Ask yourself when the last time you updated your graphics such as your logo or some of your product covers, does it look like a blast from 2016? Could there be better photographs of your product in action, think of trends that are currently not relevant and sift through your store products. If it's looking a little flat, it might be time for an update.

The second reason why you should consider giving your TPT store a fresh look is that you're not happy with it. Maybe you did freshen up your store a bit but you don't like how the colors go together, you might realize that the two colors you picked out and love aren't cutting it in the grand scheme of things. Or you don't like the fonts you chose to include on your previews or product covers. And maybe you know it's too bold or it's just really hard to read from a small screen. If for any reason you're not happy with how it looks overall, then it might be a good idea to give your TPT store a makeover.

The third reason why you should consider giving your store fresh look is that you want to appeal to new customers, did you decide to narrow down in your niche and you finally figured out the type of resources you want to sell. Did you previously create only upper elementary products now you are trying to focus on middle school teachers. Whatever the case, if you're looking to cater to a new group of teachers in any way, it might be a good idea to give your store and brand an update.

The fourth reason why you could give your TPT store makeover is that you really want to get more views and boost your sales. So aka generating more revenue. We all know the say of how we shouldn't fix what isn't broken. And while this might be true sprucing things up can actually get a boost in views and generate a little bit more revenue than before. So even if your products have been in your store for a while, don't just stop there. People are always looking for items that are current and relevant in a similar lineup. You want your potential customers to still pick your product among the newer, more attractive products. That's a surefire way to get more clicks. Reviews and ultimately more buys. So while you might have 1000s of reviews on your product, if it doesn't look like it's been updated in a while people are Believe it or not less likely to click on your product and purchase it, they might go for something that has a similar product that you have. And it just looks really nice and updated and fresh. So while you might have the number of reviews in your favor, people might be going for what looks current and relevant. So that's why it's important. Don't just leave something up there. With no updates to the covers, or thumbnails or previews in five or so years, you need to be updating it pretty frequently to stay current and relevant.

These four reasons on why you should give your store fresh look is exactly what happened to me. In fact, at one point, I was feeling all four reasons. At the same time, it looked extremely outdated. I wasn't happy with how it looked. I wanted to appeal to brand new customers. And I definitely wanted more views and more sales. The store makeover that I gave for my TPT business wiped all of those feelings away. Before the makeover. I hadn't updated anything in my store for almost four years. I didn't touch it at all, there was no branding at all, it was just all Higgledy Piggledy, just random colors, no branding at all. So I promise you, it is never too late to give your store and update. If you're not sure your next steps of how to even go about giving your store a makeover.

And you're thinking to yourself, I definitely need to do something about it. The good news is that I have the spice up your store challenge happening soon the live challenge. This is the fourth year I've put it on. And this is a five day challenge that we go into as far as updating your featured resources, free resources, your categories, we do little tiny tasks that are really great at giving you that starting point in making over your store. So it's always a really fun event that I've hosted for several years. Now. This year, if you're listening to this in real time, we will be having a live challenge. And what I mean by that is that we're going to be having live sessions from November 6 through 10th 2023. On zoom, Han will be going through all of the different activities, there's going to be replays, of course, if you can't make it on a certain time or day, but I'm really excited about this year because I'm able to actually spend some time doing this live. Whereas in the previous years, I've done it pre recorded so you can get feedback and ask questions in real time. And we'll have that kind of community. And you know, just be there altogether, spicing up our TPT storefront for Cyber Monday and the end of the year. So if you're interested in that, you can go to the southern teach designs.com forward slash challenge, and you'll be taken to the place where you can register. So that is pretty much what I'm super excited to announce is that we're going to be having that live challenge. Starting on November 6, daily bite sized tasks, you will love it. I know I've gotten a lot of positive feedback from this event. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week. And I will talk to you again next week.
